Money versus Freedom of speech

Would it be a great sacrifice to give up your freedom of speech? In return for, lets say..half a million? If you were given such a choice, would you take the money or your freedom of speech?

To some,it might seem that the riches of the world would be the best and most ideal choice to take. But would it? To have what you say be dictated to you. To suppress what you actually feel and put a seemingly smiling face in front of the world, which underneath it all is so superficial. Wouldn’t you merely be a puppet being pulled by its strings? Like a lapping dog following a master. Throw a tasty piece of bone in front of you and you quickly gobble it down your throat.

I think selling the right to what you have to say is akin to selling your soul. There would always be that feeling that you’ve let yourself down. Of wearing a mask just for the sake of money. After all,it can be so easy. Just rehearse your lines in front of the mirror day after day and I’m sure you’ll get used to your speech lines even though you don’t mean it. And even  if does make you into a hypocrite, you don’t say anything,I don’t say anything, im sure everything will be perfectly alright.

To those who do not even blink when confronted with this decision, I salute you.
